Monstrously Funny Cartoons

"Monstrously Funny Cartoons" by Christopher Hart

What a great book! This is a step-by-step drawing guide for making funny cartoons. Once you've drawn his drawings enough, the theory is that you can start to modifying them to make your own drawings. He covers Vampires, aliens, monsters that go bump, weird and bizarre, and scenes and backgrounds. This book would be perfect I think for teens. My kids had fun drawing from pictures in the book on their own. A lot of fun and entertaining!

Adventure Time Crafts

I was so excited to when I received this book in the mail! The book is based on the Cartoon Network show Adventure Time. My kids do watch and enjoy the show. So we were excited to receive the book.

I like how the products in the book seem easy enough for the kids to do. The supplies needed are usually stuff that we have around the house already. Saying that, there are some products in the book that will need some adult supervision.

I would recommend this book to anyone with kids or not! Who just love to try and make new things. Good book to have on hand for a rainy day.

League of Denial

"League of Denial" by ESPN journalists Mark Fainaru-Wada and Steve Fainaru is an interesting and somehow shocking read for NFL fans, about some awful discoveries related to diseases and deaths of ex-NFL players.
Wow. What a great book. A very eye opening book. I like the discussions of the issue of potential of brain damage. I don't think helmets help much. They prevent scull concussions, but not internal brain rattling. All sports come with some kind of risk.
These guys tell a detailed and frightening account of how the NFL for years did everything they could to silence specialized doctors that were sounding the alarm on the brain damage epidemic that is tragically robbing former players of normal lives after their career. You'll never watch a game the same way after reading this. It is also thoroughly entertaining. You won't be able to put it down.
I recommend this book!

The Dukan Diet Made Easy

The Dukan Diet Made Easy by Dr. Pierre Dukan

Another book I was excited to read. The attack phase is geared for fast weight loss to boost motivatation and can last up to seven days. During this phase, the diet consists of unlimited amounts of only lean protein—lean beef, poultry, lean ham, organ meats, fish and seafood, eggs, and nonfat dairy (except cheese)—in addition to supplementing with 1 1/2 tablespoons of oat bran daily.

Next comes the cruise phase, where you alternate between days of all protein and days of protein and non-starchy vegetables, along with the oat bran. You stay in this phase until you reach your goal or “true” weight, as Dukan likes to call it.
Then you move on to the consolidation phase that lasts for five days for every pound you lost. At this point you can reintroduce limited amounts of fresh fruit, whole-wheat bread, and cheese into your diet, plus enjoy two weekly servings of starchy foods, such as pasta, beans, or potatoes. However you must still follow the pure protein diet from the attack phase for one day a week and continue to supplement with the oat bran. Lastly is the stabilization phase where you can basically eat whatever you want, but you need to include one Thursday of pure protein each week and 3 tablespoons of oat bran daily. This phase is suggested for the rest of your life.

I like the sample menus and the recipes that are provided. I think this book would be very helpful for anyone wanting a simple plan to healthy weight loss.
